ABOUT
Our teams are fluent in both Japanese and English, and unlike other competitors in our market, the lead producers have a past working history of hands-on technical experience supporting artists directly in their creative work. We specialize in both still photography production and video production and bring a fresh perspective and unique approach to the production process.
Mothership is comprised of two lead producers. Ryota Hamada started first at the studio level as an operator of the reknowned Polaroid 20x24 camera. From there he went on to accrue a combined 20 years of experience working as a production manager and then a producer; he has worked with clients such as Nadav Kander, Araki, Rankin, and SK-II Worldwide while based in Tokyo. He founded Mothership in 2017.
Derek Frampton Davis also began at ground level, but working as a New York City photo assistant; he has since directly supported the technical execution of both still photography and motion picture photography in a variety of positions; in New York City he worked with creatives such as Peter Beard, Bela Borsodi, Jake Chessum, and Jesse Frohman. He has 15 years of industry experience.
Together at Mothership, along with a host of other talented individuals, they bring a wealth of experience and a global perspective to their clients.
